Kate O’Leary
Kate O’Leary (she/her) is a graduate of the BM Music Education program with Performance Honors in flute at the Setnor School of Music, class of 2026. In her time at Syracuse, she has been an active member of the athletic bands, serving as a band office assistant during the summers, an alto saxophone leader in the Syracuse University Marching Band, and conductor of the Sour Sitrus Society Pep Band. She also performed in many concert ensembles, instrumental and vocal. She has held section leader roles in several of these ensembles, such as the Syracuse University Wind Ensemble, Syracuse University Singers, and Hendricks Chapel Choir, touring with these groups in the United Kingdom, Brazil, and South Africa, respectively.
During the academic years, Kate has previously worked in the Setnor School of Music Office and ultimately served as Office Manager, working in the office during school hours and working various concerts and recitals on weekends and evenings. She also held several leadership roles in both the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI), culminating in presidencies of both of these groups for the 2024-2025 school year. Kate is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Wind Conducting while serving as a Teaching Assistant for the concert and athletic bands. She is honored to have this incredible opportunity to continue singing in Ensemble Sonora!
